Interdisciplinary Management of Chronic Diseases in the Global South

The African Alliance for Research, Advocacy and Innovation invites submissions of original book chapters for an upcoming edited volume on the Pan-African Journal of Health and Psychological Sciences, focusing on the Interdisciplinary Management of Chronic Diseases in the Global South. This volume will be published through the Alliance’s scholarly publishing platform and aims to advance contextually grounded, innovative, and interdisciplinary perspectives on chronic disease management.

Chronic diseases continue to pose significant health, social, economic, and policy challenges across the Global South. Addressing these challenges requires integrated approaches that draw from public health, clinical sciences, psychology, social sciences, policy studies, indigenous knowledge systems, and innovative community-based practices. This edited volume seeks to bring together diverse scholarly voices to explore holistic, culturally responsive, and sustainable strategies for chronic disease prevention, management, and care.

Suggested Themes Include (but are not limited to):

  • Interdisciplinary approaches to non-communicable disease management

  • Community-based and psychosocial interventions for chronic illnesses

  • Health systems and policy responses to chronic diseases in the Global South

  • Indigenous and culturally grounded approaches to long-term disease management

  • Mental health and behavioral dimensions of chronic disease care

  • Digital health, innovation, and technology-enabled chronic care

  • Equity, access, and social determinants of chronic diseases

Submission Guidelines

  • Chapters should be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere

  • Interdisciplinary and Global South–focused perspectives are strongly encouraged

  • All chapters will undergo editorial and peer review

  • Accepted chapters will be assigned individual DOIs via Crossref

  • The edited volume will carry a single ISBN
